MarcColor®: laser transfer technology beneath the glass surface

The patent-registered boraident laser transfer technology MarcColor® effects coloration inside the glass material by generating nanoparticles beneath the glass surface.  For this process, an argentiferous donor medium will be brought in contact to the glass surface and during a laser-induced process, chromophoric nanoparticles get created inside the glass material.

Properties of the marking

The laser marking technology MarcColor® enables to create a marking with the following properties:

  • chemical and physical resistant as beneath the glass surface
  • thermal resistant up to 500°C (1220 F), after that a color change happens
  • qualified as check marking for thermal tempering processes (tempered glass)
  • no detracting of the glass stability (no inserting of strains or cracks)
  • resistant against UV radiation
  • forgery-proof
  • restrained, aesthetic, machine readable coloring
  • contrast infinitely variable
